The Role

The Live Media Production Lead is fully responsible for the live and in-person video and media at our Sunday services and midweek events.

The Live Media Production Lead is creative, efficient, and has a commitment to detail. You will prepare weekly video media for our in-person and livestream services and lead a dedicated team of volunteer video production crew members. You build relationship and a culture of fun, worship and excellence with your team members.

This is a vital and impactful position enabling Reach to effectively point to Jesus each week to the over one thousand people that call Reach home, and the many engaging remotely.

You will grow both personally and professionally in leadership and people management skills, as well as video production. You’ll gain a mastery of professional video equipment, camera operation, broadcast direction, and video presentation software.

Experience & Education

  • Preferred: You have experience and familiarity with BlackMagic cameras and video switchers.
  • Preferred: You are pursuing a degree/career in video or in production ministry for the church.

Your Core Responsibilities

What does success look like for this position?

Prepare and Publish our Sunday Broadcast
  • Create and organize all of our Sunday Broadcast media content: In ProPresenter, this includes song lyrics, themed sermon slides, speaker titles, announcements slides, special videos, and more. Outside of ProPresenter, this includes keeping our scheduled livestream info up to date, and thorough communication with Sunday’s preacher and production crew about the game plan for that week.
  • Cut down and publish the previous week’s sermon video, as well as any special video cuts needed (Child Dedications, Baptisms, etc.)
  • You recruit and train our volunteer team. You maintain the serve team roster and schedule, asking for team member’s blockout dates, scheduling months in advance at a time, etc.
Lead the Execution of our Sunday Broadcast
  • A thorough training to start. You’ll immerse yourself in our workflows, receive training on our mid-week preparation, setup/teardown process, video rig signal flow, creative approach to broadcast production, and more. You’ll take time to serve in each volunteer role (camera, lights, slides), and become familiar with them before taking on the Broadcast Director role on a regular basis.
  • You will take over the full responsibility of media our Sunday and Midweek Services. You will lead the Production Crew on Sundays and be the point person for directing the team and answering questions. At this point you will be regularly serving as the Broadcast Director, but may fill in various roles on a Sunday where needed. You’ll be present from roll-in to roll-out, setting up our video gear, calibrating and troubleshooting, rehearsing the game plan, syncing up with the team, directing the broadcast, and then tearing down.
Oversee Video for Midweek Services
  • We have regular prayer/worship gatherings and ministry events at our Office space that require media and/or recording/livestream support. There’s typically one (but up to three) of these types of events a week. You’ll help oversee the video tech setup at our office, and help serve at these events or oversee the volunteers you train to do so.
Partner with our Communications + Worship/Gatherings Teams
  • You’ll have a weekly 1:1 meeting with with your supervisor to learn our workflows, sharpen your skills, and collaborate on projects together.
  • You will be in regular communication with our Worship Pastor and Worship Lead to review service plans and make sure everyone is on the same page.

The Fine Print

Work Hours: The Video Production Lead will work an average of 12-20 hours per week.

  • Sundays: 6 hours, 7:00AM to 1:00PM.
  • Midweek
    • 2 in-person meetings weekly: 1 hour Staff Meeting (Tuesdays at 1pm), 1-2 hour 1:1 Meeting
    • 5-8 hours of Sunday Prep, Training, Troubleshooting, Gear Work
    • 0-4 hours overseeing video at midweek services

Compensation: $20-23 per hour, dependent on your experience and capacity.

Oversight: The Live Media Production Lead will report to Stephen Garcia.
