We are so excited that you’re interested in getting baptized! Water baptism is so much more than a public statement of your faith — it’s you stepping into the water to embody what has already happened to you — your old life crucified with Jesus, your sinfulness buried with Him in the grave, and your new life raised with Him in resurrection. While we’re excited to join in celebrating this with you, baptism is your own act of worship and faith directed toward God, not a display of your own commitment or identification with a church. Baptism is your first step of faith out of your former life of death and into a new reality of life in Jesus Christ. You don’t need to have it all together or feel “ready enough” — baptism isn’t a sign of spiritual maturity, it’s the starting line. It’s for every believer, right where they are. We would love the opportunity to connect with you, hear your story, and talk with you more about the meaning of baptism. If you know you want to be baptized, or are interested in learning more and want to have a conversation with a trusted leader about it, sign up here, and we will be in touch with you shortly. Parents, check out our Baptism Conversation Guide for Parents. What is Baptism? When you go under the water, you are identifying with the death and burial of Jesus — declaring that your sins have been paid for, and that the very root of sinfulness in you has been buried with Him. The cross deals with what you did; the grave deals with who you were. You are done with your old self that lived apart from God and His ways. When you come up, you are identifying with His resurrection — celebrating that you have been raised with Him into an entirely new life, alive to God, empowered by His Spirit, and free to walk in faith. You are now committed to living your life toward God in faith. And you’re also identifying with this church as your spiritual family — people who will walk with you, encourage you, and want you to be part of the life we share together. And here’s the best part: because of what Jesus finished on the cross, the Father has already looked at you and declared you “righteous” — completely clean of sin, fully accepted, and right with Him forever — not because of what you’ve done, but because of the grace found in what Jesus has finished on the cross, and your simple response of trusting faith in him.
