How We Love: Marriage Care Group (Fall 2026)

How We Love: Marriage Care Group (Fall 2026)

Every marriage develops patterns—ways we pursue, withdraw, react, protect ourselves, communicate, and try to get our needs met. Often, those patterns began long before we ever met our spouse.

How We Love is a 6-session Marriage Care Group designed to help couples understand the relational patterns they bring into marriage and learn healthier ways to connect.

Using How We Love and the accompanying workbook by Milan and Kay Yerkovich, couples will explore:

  • The experiences and relationships that shaped how we give and receive love
  • Our individual love styles and how they interact in marriage
  • The recurring cycles that leave couples feeling disconnected, frustrated, or misunderstood
  • Why conflict can feel so different for each spouse
  • How to better recognize and communicate emotions and needs
  • Practical ways to listen, respond, repair, and create greater emotional connection
  • How to build new relational patterns together rather than simply repeating old ones

This group isn’t about identifying which spouse is the problem. Instead, couples will learn to become curious about the cycle between them—and understand how each person’s history and protective patterns contribute to it.

Throughout the group, we’ll combine teaching, discussion, exercises from the How We Love workbook, and practical opportunities for couples to talk with one another differently. Couples will learn tools for slowing down conflict, listening with greater understanding, identifying what is happening beneath their reactions, and creating a safer connection with one another.

The goal isn’t a conflict-free marriage. It’s a marriage where both people are increasingly able to understand themselves, understand one another, repair when things go wrong, and experience greater closeness and connection.

The Leaders

This group is led by two couples from Reach’s Marriage Care Team: Josh & Kindal Loy and Andrew & Teixeira Clark. Together, they’ll help guide couples through the material, facilitate discussion, and create space for honest reflection and practical growth.

The Commitment

This Care Group meets for 6 sessions during Fall 2026. Most sessions are every other week, so please pay careful attention to the listed meeting dates before registering.  We ask that couples plan to not miss more than 1 group.

Because each session builds on the previous material, couples should plan to prioritize attendance throughout the group.

Participants will need:

  • How We Love by Milan & Kay Yerkovich
  • The How We Love Workbook
  • A willingness to engage the material both individually and together as a couple

Whether your marriage is doing well and you simply want to grow closer, or you find yourselves repeatedly getting caught in the same frustrating patterns, How We Love offers a practical and compassionate way to better understand your marriage—and one another.
