The Need | Why does this position exist?

Reach is seeking a part-time Audio Lead to serve as the primary architect and steward of audio across our church gatherings.

• At its core, this is a craft role: we need someone excellent at audio who can make every gathering sound excellent and professional — mixes that are powerful, beautiful, and inviting to our congregation, delivered consistently, week after week.
• We want to build a foundation for excellent, inspiring audio in the coming season — a standard aligned with where modern worship production is today.
• Team leadership and development matter, but they exist in service of that standard: we need someone with thorough, hands-on command of our audio systems who will lead the audio team, train others to run sound, and troubleshoot and maintain our gear.

• Understands the artistic value of excellent audio, not just the technical side. Knows what a great mix sounds like in the modern worship space and can dial it in live, every week, across every gathering.
• Solid working knowledge of professional audio systems — signal flow, digital consoles, RF, and the gear that makes a room sound right.
• Competent mixing both live and broadcast audio across varied worship environments, with a mix philosophy aligned to Reach's sound.
• A motivated learner — hungry to grow in problem-solving and technical judgment, ready to adapt as technology and standards evolve.
• Engineering and production experience a plus.

Core Role | What does this position do?

Delivers excellent audio. Serves joyfully. Develops systems. Trains people.

• Owns the sound of all Reach gatherings — mixing live and broadcast audio that is powerful, clear, and inviting.
• Oversees all audio systems for all Reach gatherings — setup, service, and teardown for Sunday services, worship and prayer events, and midweek gatherings like Reach Youth and 20s + 30s.
• Extends that same standard to seasonal events: holidays, summer camps (Reach Kids, Reach Youth, All-Church Camp), Alpha, men's and women's events, and more.
• Leads and schedules the volunteer audio team, training volunteers to run sound at a professional level in their specific roles.
• Spends midweek hours sharpening the craft — evaluating our current systems, deepening technical knowledge, and implementing improvements as needed. Troubleshoots and fixes gear during the week as issues arise.
• Records and mixes worship moments, podcasts, voiceover audio, and sermons for deployment to our church and beyond.
• Meets with supervisor biweekly.

The Details

• $27.00–$30.00 per hour, 60 hours a month, on average
• 15 hours a week (~6 hours Sunday, ~9 for midweek gatherings and admin)
• Seasonally, hours may shift closer to 20-30 per week (summer camps, ministry events, studio work)
• Reports to Worship Pastor
• Collaborates with Production Lead and  Comms & Creative Director as needed
