Pray through Scripture

Psalm 103:1-13, Revelation 10:4, 8-10
Discussion Guide

Pastor Jason taught us that Scripture is our tether to God, the anchor for the soul. "The way through the trials to come is not to know exactly what will happen, but to allow the word to become a part of us." To be tethered to the Word is to allow it to become a very part of your being through prayer.

Let's pray together.

Share Your Prayer Habits

How often do you pray? Hourly? Daily? Weekly? Rarely?

What do your prayer times look like?

Why do you feel most compelled to pray?

When do you notice your prayer habits lessening?

READ / SAY / PRAY / LISTEN

In your DNA or with those closest to you do these 5 steps to pray through scripture this week:

1) READ SILENTLY a passage from the Bible as a group (1 min)

2) Ask someone to READ ALOUD the passage (1 min)

3) Ask someone to PRAY THROUGH THE PASSAGE out loud (1-3 min)

4) Spend some TIME IN SILENCE asking God to speak (3- 5 min)

5) RESPOND about what you heard from the prayer or passage (5 min)

Practice with This Passage

My soul, bless the Lord,
and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
My soul, bless the Lord,
and do not forget all his benefits.

He forgives all your iniquity;
he heals all your diseases.
He redeems your life from the Pit;
he crowns you with faithful love and compassion.
He satisfies you with good things;
your youth is renewed like the eagle.

The Lord executes acts of righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.
He revealed his ways to Moses,
his deeds to the people of Israel.
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love.
He will not always accuse us
or be angry forever.
He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve
or repaid us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his faithful love
toward those who fear him.
As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed
our transgressions from us.
As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.

Psalm 103:1-13, CSB
