In this week’s teaching, we heard about Jesus’ conversation with a prominent teacher of the law who wanted to acknowledge Jesus, but was resistant to the all-out change Jesus described.
As we connect around the theme of Jesus as our Savior, take the time to remember and tell your DNA how you first came to Jesus. How did he first get your attention? How did you decide you wanted to surrender your preferences and ultimately your life to him?
Read this from the Bible together:
John 3:1-5
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
What does it mean to be born again?
Do you find yourself following Jesus only as a teacher or are you approaching him as Savior? How are those different things?
Do you want to begin following Jesus as Savior today? Do you need to be born again? Pray that Jesus would help you surrender to him.
Is anything in your life out of alignment with your desire to follow Jesus with your whole heart?
Is there sin to confess and repent of?
Is there anyone in your life who needs to be invited to follow Jesus with you?
