Is heaven real? Is Jesus the only way to get there? Pastor Britt unpacks beautiful truths about what's to come to give us hope right where we are.
Let's study together.
John 14:1-7
1 “Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also. 4 You know the way to where I am going.”
5 “Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way?”
6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you know me, you will also know my Father. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Some key statements and questions put forward that are important for us to talk about…
"What will heaven be like?...
"What will we be like in heaven?"
“Heaven is not our default destination."
Is faith in Jesus the only way to heaven? Do you believe Jesus is "the way" to heaven? If this is hard for you to believe, share those doubts.
Jesus is making a way for us. Heaven needs no improvement. It has been prepared for you. Does this stir joy in you?
He has made us right with our dad. In heaven, we leave a dim, earth-bound relationship with Jesus (1 Cor. 13:12) for a clear, face-to-face friendship. Does the idea of a perfect place or a perfect Person make heaven most attractive?
Hell is a real place. Say this out loud: I am made for eternal relationship with Jesus.
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Say this out loud: Jesus has overcome the world. I am in good company with him. My heart is safe.
I have been made right with my heavenly Father. Say this out loud: Jesus made a way so I can be with my Father forever.
Amen.
